Guizhou Job's Tears

Guizhou Job's Tears

The Legend of Dampness-Relieving Properties of High-Altitude Coix Seed from Xingren.

Guizhou  Xingren is located on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau at an altitude of 1,300 meters.

The pristine plateau climate ensures that coix seed remains free from contamination. The local Miao ancestors have lived in the mountains for generations and discovered that regular consumption of coix seed could dispel the damp cold brought by fog; they thus ground it into powder and cooked it into porridge.

Today, Xingren still preserves the tradition of "drying coix seed during the Dragon Boat Festival." After slow roasting at low temperatures, the coix seed gently removes dampness without harming the spleen and stomach, making it a time-honored health-preserving remedy passed down through generations among the Miao people.
