The Millennium-Old Fragrance of Golden Sweet Osmanthus in Guilin and Yangshuo, Guangxi. Guilin derives its name from the sweet osmanthus flowers, while the golden sweet osmanthus of Yangshuo stands out as the finest among them.
Legend has it that when Chang'e flew to the moon, she accidentally scattered sweet osmanthus branches from the lunar palace onto Earth, where they landed along the banks of the Li River in Yangshuo.
Since then, the area has been covered with golden sweet osmanthus blossoms.
Every September, Yangshuo is filled with the fragrance of sweet osmanthus flowers.
Local tea farmers harvest the first crop of golden sweet osmanthus in the early morning, just as dew has settled, and blend it with Liubao tea during the fermentation process, allowing the essence of the mountains and waters to merge perfectly with the floral aroma.
